Highest Powerplay Score in IPL

Any team’s prospects of winning a match in the Indian Premier League depend on their ability to score highly during the powerplay. The five IPL powerplay records are shown below, along with the batsman who scored each run. Besides, in T20 IPL there are players who created a tagline for themselves known as the Fastest Century in IPL 2024.

Moreover, the Highest Run Chases in IPL history were won by several ballers and batsmen, just like the highest PP score. 

Highest Powerplay Score in IPL by Teams

Kolkata Knight Riders powerplay score 105/0 

With 105 runs in the first six overs of their 2017 encounter against RCB, KKR holds the record for most runs in the powerplay in an IPL game. Therefore, during that time, Sunil Narine, a very dangerous player in the powerplay, scored 54 runs from 16 balls, including the quickest half century in IPL history at the time. Chris Lynn, on the other hand, added 49 runs from 20 balls.  

Chennai Super Kings powerplay score 100/2 

The only other instance of a club scoring 100 or more on the powerplay was CSK’s performance in 2014, which also marked the maximum runs in the history of the Indian Premier League.  

From the beginning, this game was a run feast as KXIP amassed an incredible 232/6 in their 20 overs, the seventh-highest total in IPL history, mostly thanks to a century from Virender Sehwag. CSK knew they would need to score well in the powerplay when they came out to chase such a large mark, but they dropped a few easy wickets. That didn’t stop Suresh Raina from mounting a fantastic counterattack, though, as he finished with the most runs in the powerplay—87 off just 25 balls—of any batter! 

Chennai Super Kings Powerplay score 90/0 

While his colleagues attempted to surpass him for the most runs scored in an IPL powerplay, Suresh Raina was able to relax in the dugout for CSK’s second entry on the list. 

Kochi Tuskers Powerplay score 87/2 

For three years, this would stand as the IPL record for most runs in the powerplay, going all the way back to 2011. Rajasthan was knocked out for a pitiful 97 runs, and the Kochi Tuskers were able to chase it down in only 7.2 overs, making it one of the most one-sided matches in IPL history.  

However, prior to coming out and smashing 25 in 12 balls during the powerplay with Brendon McCullum (the third time he’s been involved in an innings that resulted in the highest runs in the powerplay), Brad Hodge had previously recorded career-best bowling figures. He also added 29 from 12 deliveries as the Kochi Tuskers wrote themselves into the record books with the highest runs in the powerplay. 

KXIP Powerplay Score 86/1 

KXIP’s run total in the powerplay versus SRH was the fifth highest in the IPL. Even though KXIP lost Sehwag on the opening ball of the innings, Wriddhiman Saha (52 from 23 balls) and Manan Vohra (29 from 11 balls) still managed to cut through the opposition.  

 With eight balls remaining, KXIP was able to chase down 205 because to their powerplay heroics. As was already mentioned, their 13 fours during the powerplay tied the record for the most boundaries struck during an IPL powerplay.

On April 23, 2013, Chris Gayle of Royal Challengers Bangalore hit an astounding 175 runs not out off just 66 balls against Pune Warriors India, setting a record for the greatest individual score in the history of the IPL.
